I just moved to a brand new hosting service from PowerDNN and everything looks a LOT faster and the support is much better. Unfortunately, that meant I had to get a clean start which means I've lost all my data and user accounts. If you were one of the first 23 people who signed up for an account, please accept my apologies and recreate an account. I have manually re-entered all the blogs and the user comments. My old service provider iHostASP.net was absolutely atrocious and my site was either excruciatingly slow or completely non-functional. The way iHostASP.net metered my bandwidth was also dubious since they were saying I used 1 GB in 4 days with only 25 users on my site as I'm getting started. I have no idea how those people counted but they would have forced me over my 10 GB cap. PowerDNN costs $20 a month which is more than double but it's unlimited (within reason) bandwidth and there's no limits on parent portals so I think I'll end up paying the same but with much better service.

Re: Just moved to a new hosting service - MUCH faster now! Thanks for re-registering Scott. The change was a big hassle but well worth it since everything runs so much better now.

Agrees with title. I just flew into Atlanta to discover this surprise. This does work much better, and I don't mind reregistering this first couple of times as long as we get better service.

The old service had no support, or else I would have backed up the database The old service had no support, or else I would have backed up the database. I had to spend hours manually rebuilding the site which would only be possible now when there are few things to rebuild. In the future, I'd go through a formal migration process that keeps everything intact. The new service provider also bundled a decent DNN container which looks a lot better IMO than the default DNN grey containers.

Re: Just moved to a new hosting service - MUCH faster now! Sorry to recommend another for-pay module, but I've had great success with Evotiva BackupScript for backing up DNN. It schedules backup of both the site files and the database, regardless of database location. And no, I have no affiliation with snowcovered.com or DNN other than that I'm a satisifed user with a couple years worth of experience with version 4.x.

Re: Just moved to a new hosting service - MUCH faster now! @George - Congrats on getting your blog re-established and welcome to the DotNetNuke community. BTW, good choice on PowerDNN. I've been through about 3-4 different DNN hosting companies and they are simply the best there is. Tony knows his stuff. I've been hosting my site http://www.shawnbass.com there for about a year and it's been pretty much smooth sailing for the last year. Response times substantially better than other hosting providers. One final thing, why comment moderation vs captcha?@m0te - I played with Evotiva quite a bit, but to be honest it's really no necessary when hosted with PowerDNN. Tony has a built in process to take a complete site backup (including your SQL database). You can even have it setup as a scheduled process and transfer it via FTP for offsite storage/recovery purposes.Shawn

Re: Just moved to a new hosting service - MUCH faster now! I have my site hosted with them for the last one year or so. It's a Dnn website and I am very much satisfied. I give 9 out of 10 and highly recommend them for Dnn websites.
